One year ago today I was bracing myself for one of the biggest days of my life- my brother Andrew's trial for rape at Bristol Crown Court. In the 2 years running up to this date I made quite a few deeply personal recordings to help me prepare for first the police interview and then the trial. On the actual day of the trial, a wonderful thing happened! The fear I had always felt towards Andrew changed. I recorded this feeling and would like to share part of that recording with you now as part of my 'unshaming' process which is a painful but necessary part of healing. I will be sharing this, and others with the new recruits as part of the Metropolitan Police Community Engagement project in the near future, as well as with other organisations working hard to help fellow survivors find some sort of justice.
